Those times of pixie dust, and magic carpets,
Singing birds and poisonous apples.
I want to go back to a simpler time,
When my whole world consisted of fairy tales.
To when me and Jerry set Tom's tail on fire,
To when my favorite puppet's nose grew leaves,
To when I knew exactly who I was.
Living in the story books and TV shows, anything could happen to me and I would be okay,
'Cause I knew that I had Hercules looking over my shoulder,
And Robin Hood right around the corner.
I miss fighting dragons and dancing in elegant ball gowns.
I miss my old friends, Mad Hatter and Winnie the Pooh.
I want swim under the sea with Ariel,
And fly around with Dumbo.
I miss playing in the sandbox with Tommy and Chuckie,
Phil and Lil.
I miss everything that life used to be.
I wish I could go back.
i really like this peice of writing. i too miss the old days. now, everything is about looks and who hangs out with who. it was alot better when no one cared what anyone thought of them.
ReplyDeleteAck. So nostalgic! This is a really cool poem mostly because I think we can all relate to it. I mean, who HASN'T wished they could go back to the time where fairies existed? I really like how bitter sweet this poem is.
ReplyDeleteI really like this poem because you get your point across. Everyone can relate to wanting to go back to being little when things were so much easier. It had a little ryhming in it too, which I thought was good.

ReplyDeleteThis poem was amazing because it made me think back to those days when we were just little kids who didn't have anything to worry about. For example, I loved when you said,

because it caught my eye that we really did have everyone looking after us but now that we have a lot more freedom, we have less of that security. Therefore, your poem made me think about when we had everyone to protect us but now that is cut down because of freedom.
This is a very good poem! You get your point across and it is easily relatable. Life was easier back then and you get your point across with all your details. Also, we all can relate to this because we have all wanted to live as if we were five and six again. Nice job!

Woah, this poem was very well written. I loved the whole message of wishing to go back to your childhood days because it reminded me how much I enjoyed being a little kid. For example, the part where it says, "I want to go back to a simpler time, When my whole world consisted of fairy tales" This shows how life was so much easier as a child than it is today as a teenager. Fairy tales were the one thing children could see there future to be, but if only it were that simple. Therefore, I loved reading this poem because it made me think of how much I loved being a little kid and how I wish I could be one again.
ReplyDeleteI liked this because I can relate to it. In the poem the person wants to go back to the older times. Sometimes I feel as though I miss something about being really little. Although I notice some of the things we miss about it are very different, the feeling of missing something from a previous age of our life is the same. I feel as though the person in this poem could have empathy for ourselves so I feel like I can relate to the poem. It is a very good poem.

This poem brought me back to my childhood when i couldn't wait to see Tom and Jerry on tv and when things in life were MUCH simpler than what they our now. I can't believe a poem really brought back childhood memories that i've nearly forgotten. The poem's repetition for effect was very good and very effective. It was used well and that's what made this poem one of the best i've read in awhile

I totally wish that I could just play, and live without a care in the world; I wish that I could watch TV and believe everything that I used to and just do what I want. I also loved how I could picture myself when I was little watching the TV shows. I also remember when I wish I could go back and pretend I could fly a magic carpet or fly around with Dumbo. It was actually upsetting when I realized how long ago all those memories took place and I also wish I could go back to those simple times. I also liked how you talked about the characters from the different shows and movies and used things they actually did to put together the poem. ReplyDeleteThis poem is good because it talks about the past and a lot of people want to go back to when they were young. It has good references to the past cartoons that I can remember. Therefore it can be related to many peoples memories of the past, and most people have goood memories of when they were young.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else because everyone can connect with it. Most people like it better in the simpler days when you would just play with friends watch cartoons and run around. Back then you never had to worry about a big test or an important project, and having a lot of homework. Everyone would like to go back because it was stress-free and fun.

When I read it, I began to think of all the things I cherished as a child, such as drawing outside the lines with a crayon and not worrying about what people think. Because of its connectivity and how well it is written, this poem is very good. Two thumbs up from me.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this poem because anyone can relate to how it was easier when we were little. We would be trapped in our imaginations and believed in fairytale endings because we had nothing to worry about. Our whole lives were eating, sleeping, and playing. Now, we stress about grades, worry about futures, and study until we feel like our heads are going to explode. Therefore, I thought this peom was really good because it brings back memories and how simple life was when we were little.
