WOW
Just wanted to say that while reading some of the recently submitted work I was struck by how much better they are than the work that you guys were creating in September. Why do you think that is? I feel like it might be because you are exposing yourselves to the different styles and ideas of your classmates when you read their posts and then you are critically commenting on them, which means you are putting yourself in the shoes of the author and evaluating the text. Is this the case? Maybe not, maybe you are just becoming stronger writers from being graced by my humble presence daily...who knows. All I can say is Keep it Up!!!

I think that most of our work is better than in September because of all of those grammar packets. They teach a lot of writing tricks that help me add variety to my writing and I saw it other writing on this blog. Therefore, they caused an improvement in our writing because the pieces have been noticably better since we have done the packets. They help the flow and variety.
ReplyDeleteI most definitely agree with you Mr. Horvath. The writing is really good and it is shocking how we can go from being terrible writers to great writers! The improvement is AMAZAING! But I think that out writing has improved because we have learned a bunch of writing tricks that we can use in our writing. Before, when we didn't know any of the writing tricks our stories were horrible. Now they are interesting, so they grab the readers attention. Therefore, the writing tricks Mr. Horvath taught us had a positive affect on us by making us better writers. Great job guyss!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure to be humble you can't call yourself humble...
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jenny because those that are humble, are too humble to call themselves humble. Humble, by definition, means, "Not proud or arrogant;modest" Think about it, Mr. Horvath is arrogant and not humble. Why would you say you are humble? Way to go.
ReplyDeleteI believe what George says because it's probably the truth. From Mr. Horvath giving all of these grammar packets and giving us quizzes or tests on them, it makes us study to know these types of phrases and use them in our writing. Therefore helping us to improve and have a variety of writing styles.
ReplyDeleteI agree with George because the grammar packets taught everyone who did them eacch week what good literature has in it to make it good literature. For example, when we learned about appositive phrases and why they are used. This helped improve my writing because the appositive phrases help me become more descriptive. Therefore, the grammar packets helped improve a lot of peoples' writing because they taught us what is expected in good literature.
ReplyDeleteDon't flatter yourself too much……
ReplyDeleteI also agree with george because the grammar packets really help with our sentence structure. Without the grammar packets we would have very confusing sentences leading up to very confusing paragraphs. Therefore george is right because without the grammar packets we would be at the same stage we were in september.
ReplyDeleteI would like to say that you cracked my up when you said, " Maybe not, maybe you are just becoming stronger writers from being graced by my humble presence daily .. " From reading this, all i can say [besides hysterically laughing] is what rory said, "Dont flatter yourself too much" and what jenny said, "I'm pretty sure to be humble you can't call yourself humble... " They took the words right out of my mouth. Alright Horvath. Goodbye.
ReplyDeleteI thin the reason that are pieces are improving is because we are expanding our ideas. I think that language arts class has helped us explore deeper thoughts and formulate them into a writing piece. With deeper ideas are pieces can be more elaborate and have a more meaningful theme.
ReplyDeleteHUMBLE presence...revise that sentence Horvath.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with that though. We are more comfortable critcising each other now than in the beginning of the year.
