whether it shows or not.
It makes us human,
and is perfectly normal.
People say hate is a strong word,
but sometimes it is necessary.
Hate can be slight,
or severely strong.
It bubbles inside you,
and occasionally boils over.
Sometimes toward things,
sometimes toward people,
and even sometimes toward yourself.
Hate can be mutual,
or single sided.
No one knows where this feeling comes from,
or if it feels the same to everyone,
but everyone knows their personal reactions.
Hate can be wanted,
unwanted,
or even regretted.
I'm not quite sure how all this fits into one word but it does.
It's always there,
whether it shows or not.
It makes us human,
and is perfectly normal.
People say love is a strong word,
but sometimes it is necessary.
Love can be slight,
or severely strong.
It bubbles inside you,
and occasionally boils over.
Sometimes toward things,
sometimes toward people,
and even sometimes toward yourself.
Love can be mutual,
or single sided.
No one knows where this feeling comes from,
or if it feels the same to everyone,
but everyone knows their personal reactions.
Love can be wanted,
unwanted,
or even regretted.
Not only does all this fit into one word but oddly enough, it fits into two. Although they are total opposites the lines of love and hate do overlap. And though we may wish otherwise the two are much closer than we'd like to believe.
LOVE IT!!!!!! Great job Kimmy!
ReplyDeleteI agree that hate is a strong word but saying you hate someone isnt alwasy a bad thing. sometimes people deserve to be hated when they have done something really bad to you or if they are just bad people in general
ReplyDeleteThis was really good! It made me think about many things. For example, it made me think of how sometimes you feel like you hate someone, but you know you can't, because you love them. Or vice versa. This poem made me think about how love is a fine line that can be easily broken.
ReplyDeleteThis was really good! I know this is exactly what Jenny said but it is. When you think of love and hate you usually think that they are completely different, but this made me think of how close love and hate are. They are the same in some ways but they can be as different as night and day. Therefore this poem got me thinkin about how similar love and hate are.
ReplyDeleteI like how you put this piece together because you have two completely opposite from each other and you showed how they are closer than we thought. Hate and love are both strong words and you don't know how other people feel when they say those words. This was really good and now I know how close the two words are.
ReplyDeleteI really liked how you took two completly different words, and used them in the same strucure, because it really works with any other word if you think about it, and the two words you chose to use actually can compare. For example, replace "love" with anger, and it mostly makes perfect sense. I don't think you meant to do that, but it turned out that it could work that way. And I do agree that they are two completly different strong words but they can be similar at the same time. Therefore, I enjoyed reading this because it was very creative and the two words you chose were strong and powerful similar words
ReplyDeleteI love how you took two completely contradicting words and pointed out that although they are opposite they are completely the same. Brilliant. I just love this kind of stuff!
ReplyDeleteLike a lot of other people have said, I liked how you showed that opposite feelings are often driven/looked at/controlled/ the same way. In this poem you proved that even though these two words are looked at from different sides of the spectrum, they "are much closer than we'd like to believe.". Well done!
ReplyDeleteI really liked this piece. Mainly because you used repetition when you described two things that are completely opposite [like Kevin said] and i think thats what made the piece so interesting and different from most pieces of writing. Overall this piece was something that everyone could connect to and i absolutely loved it!
ReplyDeleteI liked this piece because it showed the reader something surprising. Also, you used description, which makes the piece more effective. For example: "Not only does all this fit into one word but oddly enough, it fits into two.” This was explaining that love and hate are somewhat the same and this is surprising because they are two different things. I also liked how you said: "It bubbles inside you, and occasionally boils over." This was great description which is a good addition to the piece. Good Job!
ReplyDeleteI really liked this piece because you used repetition which is a very good writing trick if used properly and you definitely did that. This piece was definetly effecitive and well written. Keep up the good work.
