Between Here and There

Outside of here,
is there.
So then, i guess
inside of there
must be here.
Some people like to travel
from here to there,
or there to here,
and some people like to travel,
away from it all.
But they must be careful,
because where there is no here
or there
there is nothing,
which at times
can be great
but it can also be horrible.
Escaping means leaving
and the place you are leaving to go to,
for example, this nothing that I speak of,
can get you lost
inside of the nothingness that can be such comfort during those times that we feel way too much.
So be careful when you break free,
because by freeing yourself in the wrong ways
you can loose yourself completely.
And i don't know about you,
but I'd much rather be here still,
than be free, yet so far gone that I am alone.
going insane with freedom
inside my own mind.

  1. I liked this poem a lot, even if I had to reread it a few times to get it. Well I think it was cool how the beginning of the poem sounded like something Dr Suess would write. I don't know if you meant to do that, but it gave the poem a nice sound. :) Then it seemed to shift to a more serious tone, which set the mood more that way (at least for me) and I thought that was good!

  3. I like this poem because I think the way I view this poem it is very relatable. I think a lot of people feel like they want to escape their life at some point but they don't realize that you can get lost and end up in a situation worse than the one you were in before.(nothing) I also agree with what Marren said how there is a shift and the poem becomes a little more serious.

  4. I really love the way you open this piece but I feel as if it got a little confusing in the middle, however i do like the last two lines.

  6. I really enjoyed reading this poem. But I agree, it took me a few times to read it to get a better meaning of it.The first two stanzas were interesting to read, and it really got me hooked into reading the rest of the poem. So overall, great job!

  8. I really liked this poem. It had a certain mood that was clingy. I think it changed from beggining to end. It took a few read throughs to finnaly understand it. But i agree with the author, i'd rather stay here then there.
