Good Enough For Me

Every now and then,
I can't help but think,
who will I be after I'm gone?
People have asked the question:
If a tree falls in the forest, but no one was there to hear it,
did it make a sound?
If there is no one listening to me,
did I make a sound?
I'd like to think that I already have,
but then again,
I'd like an awful lot of things.
Really, I can only hope
that someone is listening.
And after I am long gone,
I will still be here,
within the sound I made.
Even if only a sound,
that's good enough for me.

  1. I like this idea, I've often thought, what happens if I didn't leave a mark? What if I'm just forgotten?
But my favorite part of this poem was how you connected the line "if a tree falls in the forest and no one was there to hear it, did it make sound?" to the ending, "even if I only make a sound". It made like an invisbile thread connecting your poem all the way through, instead of a bunch of lines, it really fits together and flows.
