When I was just about 12 years old, I was getting ready to practice with my teamates of the bridgeport chargers. I was so excited and couldn't wait but I had to put on my equipment first. I ran down my stairs, pulled open my dresser and took out my football equipment. After I put them on, my brother Dorian and I waited outside until my father arrived home. When my dad came home, he went in the house, talked to my mom and came back outside to drop me off at footbal practice. We all went in my dad's car and departed from my house.
We were a little late for practice so we had to run a few extra laps. Afterwards, we did our stretches and went over all of the plays in the playbook. We all had a lot of fun and joked around a little bit, but we had to be a little serious at the same time. Our coaches watched, observed, and recorded all of the plays that we did so we can see what we did wrong. There was about an hour left of practice so the coaches decided to make us go live (it means to have a football game against each other).
The first string offense and I went in the huddle and we called our first play. I was getting the ball and going to run behind my blockers to where the left tight end is. I followed my blockers and got an easy touchdown. I did my touchdown celebration and went back in the huddle to know our next play. After the next few touchdowns we decided to do plays from the NFL (just to play around). But's that's when it happened.
We went in an "I" formation and I was to get the ball and go right up the middle. "HIKE" the quarterback said as he the ball was snapped and it went in his hands. He got the ball and stretched the ball out to hand it to me. I got the ball from his hands and went up the middle. I was running but didnt't notice that my blockers just backed up and watched me run. There was 2 defensive lineman that were almost two times the size of me. They lifted me up and slammed me on my head. I woke up not knowing how long I was out. The coaches were all looking at me. Everything seemed blurry. The only thing that I clearly saw was the ambulance because of all of the flashing lights. They put me on the stretcher and they drove me quickly to the hospital.
They went in the hospital with me and took me in the emergency room. They checked my eyes and saw that they were okay. They asked me questions there and I was able to answer them because my head cleared up a little bit. After that, they put me in a room, gave me medicine and told me to take a nap. They said they would be back in about an hour or 2. My mom was worried so she stayed with me throughout the night wondering what would happen next. About 3-4 hours later my mom asked what's taking them so long so she told them to take me to the Yale hospital instead. The doctors did her bidding and took me to the Yale hospital. This hospital was very quick and told my mom that I would be okay and that I would need to take a few weeks off any activities. So then my mom took me home and I went to bed drowsy. That was the worst day of my entire life.
