Paparazzi

With a click and a flash
Your picture is taken
Then sent to a magazine
A magazine with a twisted story
A story with power

Words have power
Power stronger than water
But the words work though the media like water
Pictures provide the proof
You pick it up and your world stops

The first story built your dam
Their words pounding at your walls
And in one twisted story
The water over-powers your dam
Breaking you down
And it starts with the paparazzi

  1. I really enjoyed reading this poem because it s very relatable to what is going on in the world with many celebrities. Many celebrities today are getting a picture taken that they don't want to be published, and one picture can turn into ruining someone's life and their reputation forever. Today, many different stories are being told from the wrong point of view, also ruining this person's reputation, and when the editors take a story and turn it into the complete opposite of what happened, everything is ruined. This also goes with the paparazzi and pictures too. Embarrassing and scandalous pictures are being put out into the world for everyone to see, and once the story has been told, the picture that is involved is the icing on the cake. Therefore, this was very relatable to what is happening in today's crazy world.

  2. I thought that this was a very good poem. I agree with abby12345 about what she said about the poem being relatable to whats going on in the world with celebrities. I thought that this was a very good poem because it used symbolism. For example, the poem said "The first story built your dam Their words pounding at your walls
    And in one twisted story
    The water over-powers your dam
    Breaking you down
And it starts with the paparazzi"
In the poem you made the dam symbolizing the story. I thought that was interesting because I would have never thought that a story and a dam could be related.

  3. This was a good poem because you used a metaphor and built on the idea throughout the poem. Towards the middle it says, "Words have power, stronger than water." Then in the end you go onto say, "The first story built your dam Their words pounding at your walls And in one twisted story The water over-powers your dam Breaking you down." By building on the idea, it gave me a better understanding of what you are talking about throughout the poem. Therefore, this was a good piece because a metaphor was not only used, but you expanded on it throughout the poem, giving the reader a better understanding by comparing parts of the piece to the same general idea.
