Plastic Zombie

I was thinking about what Horvath said today about devils advocate and how we could question if being individual would be good or bad and I thought "well what if you were part of the society/in crowed but were still yourself?" And then I realized that's what people do all the time, but is it really them? You walk around everyday pretending to be the same thing, interest flowing in the exact same direction, and eventually that is what you are. Not truly pretending, for pretending takes imagination and imagination takes effort. But once they fall into routine it is no longer a thinking proses, it is second nature, it is part of you without being yours.

And now i ask myself, is this actually bad? To be a living zombie, plastic and fake, but to not know? You think your happy, no matter if your trying to be part of a crowed or deliberately trying not to be, this is what you have been striving for and made it!

Only you haven't made it, you just think they do.

You may be living an ignorant bliss in the dark, forgetting that this isn't what you like only what you want , or you may be sadly standing alone in the chill of truth, but i find it is simplest to live in between. Accept what it is that you are, because you are not individual for individuality is not unique, and you are not a perfect rounded shape, you are only what you allow yourself to be , not what you want yourself to be. In this way i think you give yourself the most amount of space to just be.

  1. I really like the "you are only what you allow yourself to be, not what you want yourself to be," part. Everyone tells you, you can be whatever you want to be, but you have to take the steps to get there. What you allow yourself to be is who you become.

  2. You use the word zombie. A zombie is a lifeless being, a reanimated corpse. No will or soul, no thoughts, simply conforming to what it's being told to be. This is what you're telling me, even saying it ends being happy. What is the point of us of were lifeless dolls?
(trying not to be mean, so if sounds that way I don't mean it)

  3. I disagree Kace, Zombie means that we mindlessly go about our dailey lives without really or hardly thinking about the world like this, why do we blend into society or perposly stand out? And we do, both blend and stand out or else we wouldn't care about what others think of us and who knows what the world would be like then...

  4. Elise, look up zombie. It means mindless and soulless. I looked it up to make sure I wasn't wrong, but even in your definition you have no mind! Youre a sheep just doing one thing and never thinking, what's the point of a mind if you don't use it? If you don't care what others think then you will forever be in the confines of others ideas.

  6. Plastic zombie is a phrase I don't understand. I know of no plastic that is alive. Therefore, how can a none living plastic be a zombie for it must be alive to die to become a zombie. (I think I'm taking this to literally.) Also this my not be the definition but when I think of a zombie it is usually an evil/dark one. It doesn't care how you could help it because something without a mind can be endlessly driven to succeed (usually in a harmful way).

  7. Umm... you guys are taking this too literally. when i wrote zombie i was thinking of how you wake up but your still sleeping and people call you a zombie, in this way it has everything to do with what i was writing. And just so you all know the term zombie came from back in the day when they gave people drugs to make them seem like they were dead and then they would bury them, but when they dug them back up they would still be alive because they were never actualy dead and they were all creepy and out of it. So don't try and seem so smart kase:)

  10. I think what Maya means by "zombie" is that we are living our lives in a mindless way...like, we are not literally mindless, but we are getting into the pattern of trying to fit in by being someone we are not and we mindlessly got into that pattern. I thought that was really deep and a cool interpretation of indivisual to indivisuality.
