I am doing leads as well, and the strategies I find most effective for generating an effective lead are quoting someone famous, definition of a word, or a flash back.
Normally I start with dialouge, like George said, or some kind of action. Also, I like to draw readers in (or try to) by revealing some parts of the problem and then leaving the rest for the reader to figure out.
I'm doing leads as my writing goal and one strategy I use is starting with an expanded moment. By using this as a hook, the audience immediately feels like they are in the setting.
one i love to use is personifaction, or a simile, using figurtive language in the beggining really sets the stage for a good story.
ReplyDeleteYou could start with dialogue. I do that a lot because then the reader is interested because he wants to find out what they are talking about.
ReplyDeleteI am also doing leads. I got six rules for making leads online and they help a lot.
