Better?

Hey, what did you get on the math test?” A boy asked.

“I got an 88. What did you get?” Another boy replied.

“Wow, I did better than you, I got a 97.” I’m better than you,” he answered.

“Did you get invited to the party tonight?” A girl asked.

“No I didn’t. Did you?” Another girl replied.

“Oh, well I did. People like me more than you, I’m better than you,” the girl answered.

What does it mean to be better than someone? Is there such thing as being better than

someone? Everyone is different, but does that make them better than anyone else?

  2. To be better than someone is being more succussful at the same hing as the same person by in many different kinds of ways. There is a such thing as being better at something than someone else because you can achieve something and the other person can't. Yes, everyone is different and everyone is better at something than someone else. Everyone has their own characteristic of themselves that makes them who they are. One person may be good at soccer, but another is better at basketball. These are different so it explains who is better at what. Everyone is better at different things than others. Therefore, this shows that society is made up of all kinds of people and are different in many ways including being better tan others at something that they individually like.

  3. I really like this blog post and even though it’s short it has a good meaning and I liked when you said everyone is different. In my opinion I believe know one is better than anyone but you might be better at a sport than someone else because you had more practice than the other person. Everyone is different and no one is better than another person because we were made to be kind to others and to not put others down just because they struggle instead you should help the make a difference.

  4. I agree with Julie that this was a good blog post. I think to be better than someone else is tottaly unfare to say. There are differnt things that some people are stronger at than others but that doesnt make that person better as a whole. for example, I could be better at video games than someone but they can be way better at math than me. Does thins make any one of us lesser to the other NO. Therfore nobody can be labeled as better because we all have our skills and things that we are good at.

  5. Zach, great poem. You took the conversations of 8th grade and incorporated it into your poem which i thought took a lot of thinking. I havent seen too many poems like this or anything involving real life examples from our school. Therefore, this poem was interesting and unique.

  6. This was really good Zach. I liked it because it got you thinking about things. For example, when you asked, "What does it mean to be better than someone?" It had me thinking if there was such a thing as being better than someone else. Therefore, I liked this poem because it had my mind racing, with different questions.
