The day that never ends

“Why won’t this day ever end”, I said annoyingly. My best friend Allie looked at me with a sad face that made me instantly laugh. It seemed like it would never end as I made my way to my eighth period Spanish class and said goodbye to Allie. I sat down in my seat and rolled my eyes at my teacher as he told us to get our homework out. As always I had forgotten to do the worksheet and silently did it while he was checking the other kid’s homework. I always got away with it since he was clueless. I stared at the clock longing for it to be 2:40, but it was only 2:15. After a few minutes the classroom was like a jungle, with kids jumping around, taking pictures with their cell phones and making fun of the teacher. I looked back up at the clock and found that only 5 minutes had passed. “This day was certainly going to last forever”, I thought. This was the longest half hour of my life. Class slowly came to an end and I walked to my locker and saw Allie waiting for me. “Is it just me or did this day seem like it would never end”, she says. I smile at her, thankful someone feels the same way. I walk into homeroom and wait till my bus gets called. I rush out the door, run through the mob on the stairway, and push through the front door. “Thank god this day is over”, I thought.

  1. This is a good short story because most students can relate to it. Today did seem to drag on forever and it never seemed to end. Everyone has probably forgotten to do their homework and done it in class just so they would not get marked off. In the beginning of class, everyone is always talking, taking pictures, etc. like explained in the story,"After a few minutes the classroom was like a jungle, with kids jumping around, taking pictures with their cell phones and making fun of the teacher." Therefore, this was a good short story because everyone can relate to the neverending days and the hectic beginnings in class.
