Who Are We?

I don't want to be the same. I don't want to be just another fish in the sea. I don't want to be just another color in the rainbow. I don't want to be the same. But I am. Ariel wanted to be "where the people are", And Cinderella wanted to be treated just like her step-sisters. Did they ever want to be different? All they wanted to be was the same. But they weren't. I guess in this world no one will ever settle for who they are, and what they strive to be.

  1. This was really good because it was relatable for mostly all people. For example, I personally don't want to be a follower, but I like to fit in the crowd. So I am technically the same as other people. Therefore this is a good piece because I can relate to it and probably just like other people, i have felt this way sometime.

  2. I liked how you connected it to cinderella and ariel. I also like how you contrasted the two ideas.. you wanting to be different and how they are different, but they don't want to be. Also like Rory said, it was relatable for people, which would also help with a bigger audience, and interest more people.

  3. I liked this poem a lot, because it was easy to relate to. For example, I like to be myself and not base who I am and what I do on what others do. Which is what you are saying through this poem. Therefore I like this poem a lot. Nice job Nicole!

  4. The poem was great with the use of metaphors and use of symbolism. For example, its states "I don't want to be just another fish in the sea" was a great metaphor and symbolized being the same. with every metaphor that was added it always symbolize being the same. Therefore it had good use of metaphors and symbolism.

  5. this is a really good poem! i liked how you related the message of the poem to the disney princesses. they are little kids rolemodels. but usually the rolemodel wants to not be like everyone else aand be their own self. they are usually supossed to like them for who they are. butr if you look a little deeper into the story some of the princesses dont like their life like cinderella and ariel. ive never noticed it before until now but goood job! the peincesses arent cracked up to who they are!

  6. This is really good! I think a lot of people can relate to it personally. No one ever wants to go unnoticed and just bled in with everyone else. But at the same time no one wants to be a complete outcast. I also really liked how you compared it to the princesses. It gives the readers a visual of what you are talking about. I would have liked it if you put in stanzas because it is a poem. But overall nice job!

  7. Like most people said, I like this piece because of how relatable it could be. For example, some people "don't want to be just another fish in the sea" (as the poem says) but they are and others don't want to be different (like the princesses) but they are. Therefore, this poem is great because it could be related to.

  8. I liked this poem a lot because it was very easy to relate to, and I liked how you incorporated examples from stories such as Cinderella and the Little Mermaid. The connections made the poem even easier to relate to because it made me know exactly what you were talking about based on Airiel and Cinderella's stories. There, your poem was good because I could connect and relate to it.

  9. This poem was really good because you related it to Ariel and Cinderella. This was good because it gave me a better visiual and the princesses are, like Rockelle said, supposed to be rolemodels but they want to be the same as everyone else. If they are supposed to be rolemodels, then they should want to be their own person. Therefore, this poem was great!

  11. This was a really good piece because you had a good comparison between Ariel and Cinderella because they both want to be the same as someone else even though they are princesses and we are the ones that want to be like them. In a way it kind of makes you think how everybody wants to be like everybody no matter who they are.

  12. I like this poem a lot because you contrasted how you want to live to how Cinderella and Ariel wanted to live. In the poem you say how you want to be different and not just another fish in the sea but Ariel and Cinderella wanted to blend in with everyone else. Therefore you made a great connection and clearly illustrated a common idea of people wanting the opposite of what they have or who they are.
