"Art is over-rated.”
“How could you say that?!"
“I bet even Davinci thought art was dead at one point.”
“Oh, you’re just in a slump.”
“No, I think we need something new.”
“Like what, my dear doubt?”
“I don’t know, my dear self-assurance, something that puts meaning to survival again.”
This was a good short peice because it used dialouge well. for example it clearly refrenced a conversation without making it confusing or boring like when it said "i don't know my dear self assurance" it adresed the person it was talking to making it a clear and excellent use of dialouge.
ReplyDeleteThis confused me a little, but in a good way. I liked it because, as Ant said, it wasn't that direct and because it made me think. I wondered why this piece was written, and what influenced it. I wondered about your feelings of art, and why you thought the world needed something new. So, good job!
ReplyDeleteThis is an excellent short piece because of the connotations I got from it. The conversation between "doubt" and "self-assurance" is telling me that doubters of an artist may not think there is a deep meaning in his/her paintings, while the artist's "self-assurance" is telling him that there is meaning. This piece may be short, but the symbolic characters and conversation made it outstanding
